Winchester University Debating Society encourages and values reasoned argument, critical thinking and a wide range of opinions.

About Us

We are a society for the students of the University of Winchester, in Hampshire, to actively debate and argue on a wide range of topics and ideas.

We give everyone a platform to speak and contribute in debates, and actively encourage our members to create the main debate of the session in something that they feel passionate about.

During the academic year of 2014 and 2015, the debating society plans to work with other university societies to host and revitalize debates between different students.

Members of the society are welcome to introduce topics of debate, and any member of the public is welcome to work with us to create a debate among the students of Winchester.

Join Us

We meet every Monday at 6 PM during the term time of the University, on the King Alfred Campus.  Come along to debate different topics and take part in the fun environment. Everyone is welcome no matter how experienced or skilled you are in debate, even if you are a novice! Join us at the pub after our debates to get to know our members and to argue all night long!  If you wish to contact the society or gain more information, visit the contact us page here
